So it looks like there is something in taglib that doesn't like the tags in MP4 files (possibly other file types). Tried to import again using the Media Tags option, and it showed up with 'Error' in the fields. Tried to import using 'SongID - Artist - Title' format, which as expected just adds the filename into the SongID field. I renamed it from 'MP4ZH-00 - TOOL - SOBER.mp4' to 'MP4ZH-00-TOOL-SOBER.mp4' So as a test I used one of my own working MP4 files. Now we want talk about Kjams and PCDJ karaoke software, another two of the most popular karaoke software. Kanto Karaoke: The Best KJAMS and PCDJ Alternative for PC and Mac. Yes we could use custom patterns to specify what to match on, however I have no idea about RegEx, and it doesn't address the issue of the existing tags on the MP4 files not being read properly. then it just uses the filename to set the metadata. If you rename the MP4 to be something OpenKJ recognizes (e.g. This causes OpenKJ 's 'SongID - Artist - Title' format to not recognize the filenames, and revert back to trying to use the media tags which is where the issue happens on these MP4s. so there is no spaces between the track# and artistname or between the artistname and title. However it does have a function to push metadata to filenames, except it uses a set naming convention for that function which is 'albumID-track#-artistname-title'. I tested on two different Macs and the result is the same.Īlso the way KJams names files is very different as it keeps its own database, so migrating is a bit difficult. This issue is not happening to his MP3+G files that have also been tagged by KJams. At first I thought it might have just been something KJams was adding to the tags that taglib didnt like, so I cleared the tags and added just the needed fields back in - same result. He is coming from the KJams karaoke software, which writes its own metadata to the files. I have only been able to test this on OpenKJ for MacOS at the moment, but its most likely across all platforms.Īnother operator contacted me about a few hundred of his MP4 files showing 'Error' for all the metadata fields after an import.
